In an effort to identify the competition, Troy's coach would often say - watch teams like Joliet Catholic to improve. Well the Knights got an up close an personal look at the Hilltoppers tonight.
Troy had one first down - by penalty - in the first half. They were so dominated that they had a running clock by the start of the fourth quarter. Didn't score until the Hill put the substitutes in at about the start of the fourth quarter.
Josh Ferguson ran for 314 yards on just 9 carries
Ty Issac tacked on another TD with a 48 yard run with a minute to go, Jones and Lyles added 86 and 119 yards.
The passing game - well - they may be keeping it under wraps, but there really was no reason to pass the ball tonight.
The Hill ended with a 48-7 win over Troy. Troy ended the year with a strong performance. Multiple players going both ways, but despite that, I saw a well coached, quality team that played the game as it was intended. With pride and ability, that comes though hard work and perseverance.
Catholic travels to Cahokia - a 30-0 winner over East Peoria - next week.
